Siemon's New 10G 6A™ F/UTP BladePatch™ Patchcord Combines High-Performance Screened Construction with High-Density Capabilities

This innovative line of 10Gb/s capable RJ45 patchcords with patented push-pull latch is designed for high-density Blade Servers in data centers, server farms and other high-density environments.

WATERTOWN, CT — Siemon is proud to introduce an Augmented Category 6 F/UTP (screened) version of their BladePatch™ patch cord. The 10G 6A F/UTP BladePatch is a unique RJ45-style patchcord which can be inserted and removed without the need to depress an external latch. The patented push-pull internal latching mechanism locks the plug into position when pushed into the outlet or patch panel, and is removed by simply pulling back on the boot. For a video of the BladePatch in action, visit www.siemon.com/go/video. As part of a 10G 6A F/UTP channel, this new BladePatch meets or exceeds all pending 10GBASE-T standard requirements, including alien crosstalk parameters.

Most 10Gb/s UTP installations require additional port spacing and lower density to meet strict alien crosstalk requirements. Siemon's 10G 6A F/UTP end-to-end system achieves higher density by controlling alien crosstalk through its screened construction rather than port spacing. The 10G 6A screened BladePatch's latching design and slim boot require less "finger space" around each patch cord making it the ideal patch cord solution for high-density 10Gb/s environments.

While it is designed to work with any RJ45-style outlet or patch panel, its ideal use is with blade servers. "BladePatch is designed with a slimmer boot than other patch cords, allowing tight side-stackability. When a telecommunications closet or data center uses BladePatch patch cords in tandem with blade servers, they have the ultimate in high-density solutions," explains Tony Veatch, Siemon's BladePatch product manager.

Due to their superior alien crosstalk performance and smaller cable diameters screened (F/UTP) copper solutions are gaining adoption as a media of choice for support of 10GBASE-T. The addition of a 10Gb/s capable screened BladePatch underscores Siemon's commitment to providing the most comprehensive family of 10Gb/s solutions avaliable. "Rather than force our customers into a single 10Gb/s option, we developed our 10G ip family with three distinct end-to-end copper solutions," explained Robert Carlson, Siemon's VP of Marketing, "We can provide full standard-based channels in augmented category 6 UTP and F/UTP as well as in our TERA category 7/class F S/FTP solution."

All BladePatch patch cords are compatible with standards-based RJ45 outlets and meet FCC68.500 and IEC 60603-7 specifications, ensuring reliability and long-term resistance to humidity-based corrosion, extreme temperatures and airborne contaminants. This UL-listed and 100% transmission-tested patch cord is also compatible with both T568A and T568B wiring schemes which allows it to accomodate all Ethernet applications. It features Siemon's patented cross-pair metallic isolator and 360 degree crimp, which maintain pair geometry and and eliminates deformation, resulting in high transmission performance.
