Siemon strengthens fibre range
Greater tensile strength, higher flame-spread resistance, easier to strip and simpler ordering are all features of the newly enhanced XGLO™ and LightSystem® fibre ranges from Siemon – a world leader in end-to-end structured cabling systems.
10Gb/s capable XGLO is available in loose-tube and tight-buffered formats with single-tube construction for two to 12 fibres and multi-tube from 24 to 144 fibres. 50µm OM3 multi-mode and 8.3µm OS1 low water peak single-mode types both support 10Gb/s and comply with all of the relevant TIA/EIA, EN and ISO/IEC standards.
For applications up to Gigabit speeds Siemon LightSystem is available in multimode 62.5µm OM1 as well as 50µm OM2 again with fibre counts from two to 144 in either loose-tube or tight-buffered formats.
Mechanical and material enhancements now allow for pulling of longer lengths of both XGLO and LightSystem fibre cables due to the increased tensile strength; and the multi-tube versions now exhibit even greater robustness due to the multi-unit construction providing increased protection to the fibre cores.
The enhanced cables, with LS0H sheathing materials, now feature an even greater resistance to flame spread than ever before and, at the same time, are easier to strip – speeding up installation.
As well as enhancing the fibre specification of XGLO and LightSystem fibre cables, Siemon has enhanced the logistic aspects – simplifying ordering, reducing minimum order quantities and making it easier to order lengths other than the former alternatives of 500m and 1000m.
According to Steven McMorrough of Siemon Certified Installer NETcare Europe Ltd, “After promoting Siemon’s copper products for seven years, the introduction of LightSystem and XGLO allowed us to go to the market with a complete turnkey Siemon solution. We have been very impressed with the quality and the high test standards achieved on completed installations.”
All Siemon end-to-end systems are covered by the company’s full System Warranty when designed and installed by a Siemon Certified Installer.
As part of Siemon’s 10G ip™ family, XGLO fibre and connectivity join the 10G 6A™ UTP, F/UTP and category 7A / Class FA TERA S/FTP copper products to form the most comprehensive line of 10Gb/s cabling solutions available.
